Halloween #2

More Mulan...Here are a few pics of the evening...

After Hubby got home from work, we dressed Punky up again and went out to some houses we knew. We went to Grammy & Grampy's, Grandma & Papa's, Aunt Terry's, Aunt Kari's, and a few neighbors. We met up with Buddy (aka Spiderman) and he was adorable. He is really not into sweets all that much, but with all the candy around, I did see him eat a little candy bar. They are too cute!!!
Punky doubled her candy. It is insane!

I am so thankful it was nice outside (a little chilly) and not raining. I can remember years past where it was snowing!

Halloween #1

Well, we are done with what I am calling, Halloween #1. Punky and I woke up this morning, got ready and headed out to Grammy's office, Grandma's office and Papa's office. Punky was ever so cute in her new Mulan costume and she really seems to love wearing it. I pulled her hair back in a clip and put a flower in it. Punky also got make-up for this special occasion (I love Halloween!!) When I told her we were going to get candy, she was ready for it...

We proceeded to Grammy's office first and got lots of candy and goodies as well as compliments. We were then off to Grandma's office (walking distance) and met all her nice friends and got more candy and goodies. Papa wasn't in the office yet, so we couldn't see him~but we will later. We then decided to venture off to my office and got even more candy. Will update more later today...

Birthday Party

Sunday was Buddy's 2nd birthday...I can't believe he is 2! They grow up so fast.

Before going to the birthday party, Punky woke up from her nap. Before I could stop her, she had started opening the present I had wrapped for Buddy. Ugh...we had to make it fun and tell her what was inside was a secret and that she could tell everyone later. It worked.

He got some really nice presents. We got him a child's vacuum which makes noise, and Sis was thanking me the next day after having to listen to it constantly! I am sure she will get me back for that one...

Punky is getting excited for Halloween...I am not sure if she realizes she will be getting CANDY tomorrow. I will be sure to post pics of our little Mulan.

Pew...

So we just got home from getting groceries (my MOST favorite thing to do~not!) and when we pulled in front of our house, there was a skunk in our front yard! I can't say I have ever seen a skunk in real life...if I have I don't remember.

We got Punky to look out the window at him and she thought he was funny. He dug around awhile in the grass and then merrily scampered down the sidewalk to our backyard. I asked Punky what she wanted to name him, and after a while, she decided on Pew. Very appropriate...

In other news, my uncle is in the hospital with some heart issues, so I would appreciate your prayers for him. Since he is single, I am thankful my mom was able to take him to see the doctor so that they could begin treating him right away.

Buddy

So I thought I would introduce everyone to "Buddy", my favorite little nephew. He is the cutest thing in the world. He is just 9 months younger than Punky, and they play really well together (most of the time). This is one of his newest pictures, and it is just too cute for words. They asked my "Sis" at the photographer's if she was entering him in the Gap baby contest. I know he would totally win!!!

His 2nd birthday is coming up...in less than a week! He is doing or saying something new every time I see him. He is actually a very sweet little boy, and I am so thankful I am an aunt!

The Wedding

This weekend we went to Rockford to attend Hubby's Grandma's wedding. Yes, she is 80 years old, and has been swept off her feet by Rex, a wonderful man who seems to treat her very well. I have never been to a wedding where the bride and groom were this old, but it was actually quite lovely, and made me feel very happy that these two no longer have to live life alone.

We spent quite a lot of time with Uncle Teeb and Uh-cole, eating and going shopping. Punky proclaimed Uh-cole her new best friend (but I think Uncle Teeb is right up there too). Aunt Kare Bear and Uncle Crowbar (don't ask how he got that name, but for some reason it has stuck) were also there, as well as Grandma and Grandpa.

We also got to see our favorite (just for you D) Florida family. Oh how we wish you lived closer~I'll pray for that one!! I know GiGi and Punky would have a blast growing up together. I got some pics of them playing as well, and hope to post them soon. We also got a picture of all of Grandma's grandkids and great-grandkids:

All in all it was a good weekend seeing family. We had thought we were going to stay two nights, but ended up coming home on Saturday night instead. I am thankful we did that, as it actually turned out better. I needed Sunday to clean house and get ready for work on Monday.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

I just thought I would share a few cute things Punky has said in the last few days...sometimes I wonder where she gets it...

We were trying on shoes at the store, and she put her foot in one, made a funny face, took it off, and reached in it to get the tissue paper in the toe of it that I had forgotten to take out. She said, "Mama! There's garbage in here!" The store clerk just laughed.

I was talking to her about going to potty like a big girl, and I told her I was sad because she wouldn't go in the potty. She said, "It's okay, Mama. Dada come home soon and give you a big hug. Don't cry." She totally missed the point I was trying to make.

We were shopping and I took a dress off the rack. I asked Punky if she liked it and she said, "Pretty, Mama! You could wear it for Halloween!" I put it back on the rack.

The other day I was cleaning up the living room to dust/vacuum and Punky came in to help me. She said, "Who's coming over, Mama?" Oh boy, have we got her trained...

Uncle Teeb and Uh-Cole were here briefly the other day, and Punky said to Uh-Cole, "I saw you at church!" Funny how she remembers a month ago that we saw Uh-Cole preach in her church.

I am so thankful for the smallest blessings...

Jammies

So, I have already said how much a I LOVE fall weather, but the best is getting out the winter jammies. For some reason (which I will not question) winter jammies bring about lots of cuddles. I also think it makes me feel a little bit like Punky is still a baby...when we would wrap her up in warm clothes and blankies and just hold her. She still likes us to hold her, but she sure is a lot more squirmy than she used to be...

I have been so busy, and posting has not been as often as I have wanted it to be. We had Uncle Teeb here staying with us for a few days, and Punky LOVED it. She now has a new Buddy. I found her a couple of times downstairs with him instead of upstairs playing. He was very good with her, and I love it when people actually talk to her like a person (as he did) instead of like a baby (which I do). We are so thankful they have moved closer so that we can see them much more often!

In other news, we are going this weekend to Hubby's grandma's wedding (yes, that is correct). That should be quite the interesting blog when we get back home.

Life as a pumpkin...

Someone was once asked, 'What is it like to be a
Christian?'

He replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin. God picks you
from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you
a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the
world to see.'

This was passed on to me by another pumpkin. I thought it was very cute...especially this time of year. I am very thankful to be God's pumpkin...

Fun Weekend

This past weekend we went down to the St. Louis area to visit Hubby's bro & sis-in-law, more affectionately known as Uncle Teeb and Uh-Cole. It was such a great visit. We are so glad they are closer to us now!

We went on Saturday morning and all went to the zoo. It was great. There were so many animals to see, and Punky had fun. She doesn't seem too scared of anything quite yet. I am sure my absolute hatred and total fear of frogs will someday rub off onto her, but alas, she still looked at them up close.

When asked, Punky says her favorite things were the crocodiles (which didn't even look real) and the train that we rode around the zoo. They even had peanut butter and jelly packets there for lunch that Punky could eat with her fingers! Perfect. It was so much fun that she fell asleep before we even got back to the car.

Saturday evening Uh-cole and I went shopping (always a good time) and then we had the most delicious pizza at Roma's. YUM YUM! Sunday we went to church with Uh-cole and got to hear her preach~no surprise, she did a wonderful job~we were so proud of her! We then went to Teeb's church to see/hear him play the worship. He, of course, did awesome as well.

All in all we had a wonderful time just hanging out and watching Punky torture poor Mozart the cat and Smudge the Pug. I am sure they are very happy Punky is out of their home! I am so thankful we had a chance to go down for the visit, and hope we can go back again soon! Luckily, we will see them again in only three short weeks at Grandma's wedding (sounds so weird to say that!!).
